My go to for black tea; 1 gram per 1 oz. Still working on temperature and brew time; either 180F for 2 minutes (Eastern), or 212F for 4 minutes (Western/Indian). Filtered water only at these strengths -- hard water makes the tea bitter. If you let the tea grow cold at these strengths, the first brew is kind of bitter. I keep my tea warm in a smart-mug. One nice thing about making a French Press like this (you need 1.5 liter volume press, because the leaves expand [if you want to make 34 oz]) is that if you change your mind and want iced tea, you can poor over ice at a later point and get good iced tea. (Again, filtered water ice). I get two good brews this way; and even a third if I'm feeling lazy, but weak at that point. I like it. For brew two you have to break up the leaves because they will be compacted.
