In the heart of America's architectural showplace,
Columbus, Indiana, stands an intimate, elegant hostelry that is a
showplace of its own -- the Columbus Inn.
Built in 1895 as the Columbus City Hall, the building was for many years
the hub of this scenic small town. The City Hall housed public offices, a
town library, a market house, and an auditorium for everything from dances
to basketball and poultry shows.
Empty for several years, the building has once again become a focal point
for Columbus residents and visitors alike--as the Columbus Inn, the only
historic lodging in downtown Columbus. The first floor, which once held
city offices, has been fully restored to accommodate the registration
office and ten high-ceilinged rooms. The auditorium above has been
converted to hold two levels of delightful rooms; the third floor rooms
are nestled up against a grandly-scaled tin ceiling, while the second
floor rooms are flooded with light from the overscaled historic windows.
The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Inn offers warm hospitality and comfort for visitors to Columbus; it
provides the perfect setting for a small business meeting or a weekend
retreat. The business traveler will find ample space in his room or suite,
as well as fully-equipped meeting rooms, all within walking distance of
most major businesses and attractions in the heart of downtown. And when
it's time to relax, the elegant lobby and lounge spaces will make any
guest feel like a VIP. Browse our library or enjoy tea or a heartland
breakfast in the informal atmosphere of our lower level.
The Inn offers 29 rooms and five suites. All are furnished with the
elegance and attention to detail you would expect from a premier hotel,
coupled with the intimate atmosphere of an historic inn.
According to Time Magazine, "A sense of quality has rubbed off all over
Columbus." Come savor the quality at the Columbus Inn.
